Bosma Enterprises and Salesforce
Creating jobs for people who are blind
Several years ago, Bosma Enterprises® realized the need for a business solution that was not only powerful but also fully accessible to its employees who are blind or visually impaired. That led to the discovery of Salesforce, which was accessible right out of the box. Before Salesforce, Bosma was using nearly 30 different systems to operate its business. Now, this single-source solution has helped build efficiencies and open up new employment opportunities for people who are blind or have other disabilities.
BosmaForce - Salesforce Administrator TrainingThere are over 2,700 open positions on Indeed.com for Salesforce administrators with an average salary of nearly $88,000. The demand for people with this skill set and certification is great in the marketplace. With a 70 percent unemployment rate among people who are blind, Bosma Enterprises recognized the potential for people with disabilities to fill these positions.
Based on these realizations, Bosma Enterprises began developing a curriculum to train people with disabilities the skills needed to pursue work in this field. The organization has hired two of the first blind U.S. veterans to become Salesforce Certified to lead this four-month program. Having led a similar training program for disabled veterans previously, the teachers have extensive experience using assistive technologies like Job Access With Speech (JAWS) screen readers and ZoomText magnifiers to navigate the Salesforce CRM platform.
The curriculum was developed in close partnership with Salesforce and uses Trailhead - Salesforce’s interactive, guided and gamified learning platform - to gain knowledge on the adaptive technologies and workarounds within the Salesforce architecture. |
